The Ludlow Indian Restaurant District

CLIFTON - Excitement is building as the burgeoning Ludlow Indian restaurant district prepares for it's newest addition. A new Indian buffet is set to open directly across the street from Ambar India, Amol India, and an Indian grocery. It will be equidistant from from India Palace and Mayura, two other restaurants that form the district. Along with Krishna Indian on Calhoun, that will bring the number of Indian restaurants in the area to at least six.

Members of the Hamilton Avenue Junk Appliance and Beauty Salon Association expressed reservations about the recent expansion of the Ludlow Indian Restaurant District, fearing Indian restaurants may soon force them out of their lucrative locations.

Said Indian restaurant owner, Apoo Srivistivishnuvristaghandi, the spread of the Indian restaurant trade is inevitable. "Soon," he said, "the Hamilton Avenue White Castle will serve chicken curry 24 hours a day."

I have not been to India Palace. Perhaps someday soon I shall dine there.

Typically, I go to Amol because they have a cheap weekend afternoon buffet, or Akash downtown, because it's a friend's favorite restaurant.

Though I am not a big fan on Indian food (not too much into curry), it's good to see more diversity offered in the area and to see the ethnic restaurants doign well. I have tried a few items from th indian restaurants at Taste and other fests and thought they were good. Just not a big fan of curry.

How about some onion chips of chicken rings.

There is no finer food than Indian, and a good resturant should be treasured. But no Fecking way is that, the guys surname.

Chicken tikka persian biriani (mild)
Chicken Ceylon (minor arse tremble)
Chicken rezilla (Take your Head off)

Sean,

Most people here in the states don't have a clue about good Indian food. The stuff here is so mild compaired to what I have had in England. Last time I was over I read that curry is now the number 1 dish in the UK.

OFFICIAL.
In a way kinda sad, but in another way shows we are open minded.
There is nothing better than a few pints and a good curry.

Hey, chicken tikki massala is MY favorite dish!

And trav...most restaurants give you the option of how spicy you want your food.

Funny unrelated story...

A friend of mine was in London and ate at a restaurant that featured "American" food. On the menu was none other than...Cincinnati chili.

So my friend ordered "Cincinnati chili" and it had jalapenos (gasp!) in it. The waiter asked if it was anything like the real thing, to which my friend chuckled and admitted it wasn't even close.
